The structure
The same rhythm each time, so children feel safe and teachers feel confident: settle at the door, do the real thing outside, make something with what you found, close in a circle.

The real thing, outside: collect leaves, meet trees by touch, follow seeds. Concrete, physical, not abstract.

Something to hold: a collage, a rubbing, a drawing of your tree. The sheet is the activity, and it goes home in the book bag.
